About The Author

Xstal Yumi is a licensed cosmetologist, beauty school instructor, and children’s author. Blending imagination with the art of cosmetology, Xstal has taken some of her favorite lessons that she has both taught and learned throughout her cosmetology journey and transformed them into the children’s picture book series, Cosmo Miko.

Xstal created Cosmo Miko as a way to take the knowledge taught in beauty schools and make the fundamentals understandable, colorful, and exciting for children. As children become curious about beauty and begin exploring hair, nails, and makeup, Cosmo Miko gives them an opportunity to begin learning about cosmetology. Rather than simply telling children they can become hairstylists, makeup artists, nail technicians, estheticians, or beauty entrepreneurs one day, through Cosmo Miko, you can introduce them to those skills now.

Xstal currently teaches future beauty professionals in the classroom, helping the next generation develop their skills and confidence behind the chair, all while introducing an even younger generation to cosmetology through literacy.
